French at Bedlingtonshire Community High School

Course description

To communicate in French at a high level. Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading.

The first year topics are Media, Popular Culture, Healthy Living / Lifestyle and Family / Relationships, discovering how people speak at a personal level and what their individual views are on these everyday topics.

The second year topics are - Environment, the Multicultural Society, Contemporary Social issues plus you choose two cultural topics for in-depth study. Cultural topics can cover different areas depending on your personal interests - from the study of a French speaking region or period of French History to a French author, painter, dramatist, poet, architect or musician.

Throughout the two years you will also be improving your grammatical awareness and knowledge in order to be able to understand, speak and write French.

The most successful students of an A level language are those who are willing to ‘have a go’ and keep on top of the their work / homework outside of French lessons.
