Course description

If you are looking for a qualification that shows you can think for yourself, have great communication skills and can use a computer effectively then this ICT course could be for you. This course will take you from learning the computing basics to the more advanced ICT tasks such as building a PC.

Course content

There can be no doubt that ICT is the future, it continues to expand and become important for all aspects of human life. This new and exciting course encourages you to develop crucial computing and design skills whilst teaching you about the internal workings of the computer. You will study how to use ICT as an important communication tool and learn about the digital economy and why it is so important. By the end of the course you will be able to assemble and disassemble a personal computer from scratch! You will be able to create, upgrade and update, all of which are essential skills for the modern workplace.

Future opportunities

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is recognised by many universities and can be a route into further computing study should you choose this when leaving the Sixth Form. This qualification is also extremely useful when entering the world of work. The practical skills you will learn can lead to a job role in many ICT departments for some top companies or you could choose a different career path. One thing is for sure, an ICT qualification will look fantastic on your CV.
