Human Biology at Droitwich Spa High School

Course description

You will be expected to learn the fundamental principles and develop your skills of applying this knowledge in novel contexts. This involves note taking, practical investigations and practising exam questions, including essays.

The components of the course are:

Year 12 : AS Modules
Unit 1 - The body and its diseases
Unit 2 - Humans - their origins and their adaptations
Unit 3 - Practical skills

The above components are studied in Year 12. The following modules are taken in Year 13 to complete the A Level course.

Year 13 : A2 Modules
Unit 4 - Bodies and cells in and out of control
Unit 5 - The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat
Unit 6 - Practical skills

Entry requirements

GCSE grade B or above in Biology or Double Science will normally be recommended in most circumstances.

It is also essential that the higher tier GCSE course has been studied.
