AS Level : English Literature at English Martyrs Catholic School

Course description

You will explore different ways in which plays, novels and poems can be read, connected and written about.

You will deepen your appreciation of Shakespeare, of other material written before 1914 and of authors still writing today.

You will gain further insight into aspects of Tragedy OR Comedy, and into Crime of Political Writing

Entry requirements

B grade in EITHER GCSE English Language OR English Literature A love of reading beyond your set texts.

Assessment

1 closed book examination paper lasting 2.5 hours and worth 40% of your final grade

1 open book examination paper lasting 3 hourse and worth 40% of your final grade

1 coursework unit consisting of two tasks and worth 20% of your final grade
