Psychology at Magnus Church of England Academy

Course description

Psychology touches virtually every aspect of our lives; and consequently, Psychologists are regularly examining questions that affect the society we live in and the decisions we make. Psychology can answer questions such as: What is your IQ and can you change it?

Do animals have feelings and emotions like humans?

Does TV violence affect children’s behaviour or transfer to violence on the streets?

Is there such a thing as multiple personality?

Do murderers have different brains to non-murderers?

The final exam is 3 hours made up of 1 hour psychological investigations and 2 hours core studies. Specialist options include: · Forensic Psychology · Clinical Psychology

Entry requirements

Psychology requires good levels of literacy and numeracy, so entry requirements are grade C or above in Maths and English. Biology also plays a part in understanding how the body reacts to different environments and circumstances. Anyone interested in the world around them and how people and animals interact within it would be suitable to take Psychology at A Level.
