National Health and Social Care at Knutsford Academy

Course description

We are offering an exciting Edexcel BTEC Level 3 National Health and Social Care Subsidiary Diploma- an equivalent to 1 A' Level in years 12/13 taught through both the successful Home Economics (Art, Design and Technology Learning centre) and the P.E. Department (Performance Learning centre). This course builds upon the popular BTEC Level 2 course taught in years 10/11 but not crucial to have studied for entry onto the course.

A very interesting course comprising 6 units only of coursework: 3 compulsory and 3 choice units covering Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition and Human Development. Planned activities within the course will be visits to local homes for older adults, visiting speakers/visitors, filmed role plays, practical food lessons, P.E. applied practical lessons and relevant visual modes of learning. Further studies in further/Higher education establishments could include a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. Career areas may include Physiotherapy, Youth Worker, Day Care Manager, Nursery Nurse/Manager, Dietician/Assistant and Radiotherapy.
