Business BTEC at Burntwood School

Course description

The level 3 BTEC Nationals are designed as specialist qualifications for those who have a clear view of their future career or want to progress to higher education. The Extended Diploma in Business is equivalent to two A levels and is highly valued by universities, higher education colleges and employers alike. You will need a lot of dedication and commitment to succeed as assessment is continuous throughout the two years.

The BTEC National Business course will provide you with an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification to enter employment in a range of business sections. The four core units will give learners an introduction to and understanding of: The business environment, Management of resources, Marketing and Communication - all fundamental to the success of business organisations. The BTEC offers a range of optional units and, working with your teachers, the class will have some degree of choice over the topics you study.

Entry requirements

At least four A*- C grade/Level 9-4 GCSEs or a Merit in a Level 2 BTEC First.


Further information

The structure of the qualification, and in particular the units that will be delivered over the two years, allows a great deal of choice and flexibility in terms of future studies and/or career options. Topics such as Finance, Management, Marketing, Law and Human Resources will be studied whilst also providing learners with the generic business knowledge needed in any business sector.
