Level 3 Butchery Apprenticeship at Leeds City College

Course description

This course focuses on the technical abilities of being a butcher, running of a business/department and preparing apprentices into the next step into supervisory roles/management. This course follows on from the Level 2 Butchery Apprenticeship Route.

Course content

Units will be selected in accordance with your job role and your employer, the experience you have will determine what you need progression with:

These include:

  • Quality control
  • Adding value
  • Curing

You may also need to take Level 2 Functional Skills Maths and English alongside your course.

Entry requirements

You will have to successfully complete the Level 2 Butchery Apprenticeship Route.

There will also be an interview process.

Assessment

You will be assessed by a series of assignments that you will complete throughout the year as well as observations in the workplace.

Future opportunities

After completing this course you can go onto Graduate management programmes, we have great links with companies such as ABP Food Group and Cranswick.

You could also run and own a Butchery business as a fully functioning butcher.
