Art and Design - Textiles A-Level at King's Oak Academy
Ever wanted to make your own fabrics, design your own prints and create unique fashion pieces? Textiles offers you opportunities to learn and develop a variety of exciting, creative & decorative techniques.
Unit 1a: Surface decoration Techniques In the first few months you will build up a sketch book of experimental textile surface embellishing,
such as free machine embroidery, felting and dyeing.
Unit 1b: An independent choice of starting point that will develop your textile skills further to produce a creative outcome.
Unit 2: 5 hour controlled Assignment. Own choice stimulus.
Unit 3: Personal Investigation. A piece of research based on a textile theme of your choice; historical or Contemporary. Then produce
an outcome of your choice using the textile or construction skills you have learnt.
Unit 4: 15 hour Controlled Assignment. Own choice stimulus.
Minimum grade C at GCSE in either Textiles, Product Design or Art.
Teacher assessed and externally moderated.
Foundation Diploma in art & design. Fashion design, textile design, print design and interior design BA Hons courses.
