Music (Extended) Level 3 at Highcliffe School

Course description

This course will provide learners with a programme of learning Music focused on performance, composing and professional practice in the music industry. It will give you an understanding of the vital skills, techniques and disciplines needed to start a professional career.

Course content

Music Performance Brief (compulsory)
Music Composition Brief (compulsory)
Professional Practice in the Music Industry (compulsory)
Solo Performance (optional)
Music Ensembles (optional)

Entry requirements

Students must be able to play a musical instrument to a good standard (grade 3 and above) as the course requires them to perform in a ensemble and as a soloist. Students must also be able to use music technology software (Cubase, Sibelius) and have a thorough understanding of music theory (grade 4+) in order to complete compulsory units.

Assessment

Students must present evidence based on units to demonstrate their personal skills and knowledge.
