Award in Health & Safety at Work at Appleby Heritage Centre

Course description

'Every 40 minutes somewhere in the UK a young person is seriously injured in the workplace. Last year in the UK 180 people were killed at work. A young worker is 50% more likely to be injured at work.'

With these figures in mind all workshop students complete this basic Workplace Hazard Awareness course at the start of their course. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the dangers and necessary precautions when working in an engineering workshop.

Assessment is a multi-choice paper and it is recommended to allow about 6-8 hours teaching time.
