Music Technology:Level 2 at Suffolk New College

Course description

Our Music Technology study programmes are renowned for their exciting content and opportunities. They are perfect for any producer, composer or engineer looking to develop their skills. The Level 2 Music Technology is centered on music production sessions in Apple Mac technology suites but also enters into the world of DJ-ing and Studio engineering. The study programme is ideal for young musicians aged 16+ who want to be introduced to the world of Music Technology and for producers into creating and producing any style of music, from deep house and EDM to dubstep and drum 'n' bass. The study programme is based around real-world projects with opportunities to record and showcase your work. There are opportunities to play out at events and club nights.

All students who have not achieved a grade C or grade 4, or above in GCSE English or maths or both will need to study an English or/and maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification.  

Course content

This study programme provides an exciting introduction to the subject of Music Technology and offers grounding in many of the key areas: • Audio Production and Composition • Live Studio Recording • DJ Techniques & Music Industry • Remixing & Podcasting There are regular trips to local recording studios, clubs & venues and music production exhibitions, all of which are supported by visits from guest speakers and Media Professionals. It is a dynamic and interesting study programme that is suitable for you if you have little or no experience of Music Technology but lots of enthusiasm.

 

 

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D or grade 3, or level 1 equivalent and an interview.

Tuition Costs

No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2017. For all students aged 19+ please visit our website www.suffolk.ac.uk. Details regarding fee remission and Advanced Learning Loans can also be found at the above website.  

Additional Costs

There is a £50 trips and materials payment to be made, to cover specialist workshop materials and experiences.bsp;

Future opportunities

This study programme aims to develop a range of skills that will prepare you for progression to a Level 3 study programme in Music Technology or a career in the music industry.
