Course description

The key questions in psychology are 'who am I?' and 'how did I come to be that way?' The subject offers the chance to try to understand ourselves as people in the modern world. This course provides an opportunity to reflect on and consider human behaviour and the workings of the human mind from a systematic and scientific perspective; it therefore offers insight into ourselves and others by examining and critically analysing established research conducted by psychologists. Topics studied include memory, attachments, research methods, stress, obedience, conformity and mental abnormality. An interest in people is essential as is an open, analytical and enquiring mind.
