What does the course involve?

AS Crowded Coasts: Plan and carry out a field trip to Bournemouth. Plan and carry out a field trip to study a coastal ecosystem

Re-branding Places: Plan and carry out a field trip to the Olympic sites in London and in our local area. Plan and carry out a field trip to Cornwall and visit the Eden Project

World at Risk: Is the world becoming more dangerous? Find out about earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, flooding, drought and global warming.

Going Global: What are the links between different parts of the world? Find out the truth about controversial topics like immigration and the growth of the mega cities.

A2 Cold Environments: Find out about the wildlife, landforms and survival strategies of the coldest parts of our planet. We will be offering you the chance to attend a residential field trip in Snowdonia so that you can see for yourselves a relic cold environment.

Contested Planet: Find out about parts of the world where they are killing each other over water. Study the most amazing ecosystems like the tropical rainforests. Investigate whether energy bills are going to be even higher in the near future.

Progression and Career Opportunities:

Geography can lead you to every corner of the planet. Famous people who have studied geography include Prince William, James Cracknell, Nick Hodgson (drummer with Kaiser Chiefs), Amy MacDonald, Wayne Hemmingway (designer Red or Dead). Geography goes well with other AS and A2 subjects, whether you are interested in the Arts, Humanities or Sciences. Employers love Geography because it is up-to-date and the decision-making exercises are good experience for the world of work.
