Sport BTEC Level 3 BTEC Diploma at Stoke Park School and Community Technology College

Course description

This is a two year course although it is possible to obtain a qualification equivalent to an AS after one year. The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport is equivalent to two A Levels. I t will be hard work as it is all based on coursework including practical and theory elements, therefore attendance to every lesson is essential. The Certificate consists of eight core units plus four specialist units that provide for a combined total of 720 guided learning hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Course content

Mandatory units—all nine units must be taken 1 Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport 2 The Physiology of fitness 3 Assessing Risk in Sport 4 Fitness training and programming 7 Fitness testing for sport and exercise 11 Sports nutrition 17 Psychology for sports performance 27 Technical and tactical skills in sport 28 The Athletes lifestyle Optional units—four units must be taken from a range including 5 Sports Coaching 8 Practical team sports 12 Current issues in sport 18 Sports injuries 19 Analysis of Sports Performance 21 Sport and Exercise massage 22 Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport 26 Work Experience in Sport It is possible for students deemed to be suitable to take the Extended Diploma

Entry requirements

Five A*-C grades at GCSE including GCSE Science and English
