Vocational Introduction to College at Farnborough College of Technology

Course description

A course for students aged 16-19 wanting to progress to a Level 1 course in a vocational area. Students may have studied GCSEs, achieving F or below, or worked on Entry Level Certificates and may have required additional learning support during their time at school.

The aim of the course is to enable students to develop the personal independence, confidence, skills and knowledge they need to progress to Level 1 in their chosen vocational area. All students will have to complete a work experience.

Course content

  • Functional Skills Mathematics, English and ICT
  • Employment skills
  • Independent study skills
  • A vocational option in either catering, hair and beauty or creative and performing arts

Entry requirements

No formal requirement. Entry depends upon a successful interview and link days. Students are expected to be working at/or towards Entry 3/Level 1

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the course may enable students to progress to a Level 1 course, look for employment or continuing vocational training.
