A Level Geography at Chelmer Valley High School

Course description


At AS and A level, students follow the AQA A syllabus. At AS level students study units on rivers, population, deserts, energy issues and fieldwork skills.


At A level, students study contemporary geographical issues including Tectonic Hazards, Ecosystems and World Cities. This is assessed as a single exam paper, with extended essay questions. The second paper is based on a pre-released information booklet that can be about any geographical issue around the world, recent examples include The Himalayas, a new bridge development in Poole, Dorset, flooding in Bangladesh and a Geopark in the Scottish Highlands.

      • You will join Main Road (B1008).
      • Turn Left, into Court Road.
      • Follow Court Road, carrying straight on just before the bend.
      • You have arrived and should see the school's sign.


      From Braintree:

      • Take the A131 following signs to Broomfield Hospital.
      • At roundabout with A130, take the B1008 past The Walthams.
      • Follow B1008.
      • Turn right into Hospital Approach, at the roundabout near the Hospital.
      • Take first left into Court Road, and follow until you see the Chelmer Valley sign.
