BTEC 1st Diploma in Applied Science – Forensics (Level 2) at Stanborough School

Course description

The Applied Science course is for anyone with an enthusiasm for Science and a keen attitude to work. You will be required to work independently and as part of a group.
This is a Level 2 Vocational Science qualification. It is equivalent to 4 GCSEs. It consists of eight units assessed over three terms. You will have the opportunity to attend several field trips at various Science laboratories to enhance your learning. On completion, you will gain a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade, which will provide a pathway to a Level 3 qualification, for example: the BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Forensic Science).
As this course is assignment based, you will require good organisational skills. You will cover a range of Science Topics, including biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as the role of Science in the workplace, and you will gain technical skills in a variety of practical activities. All assignments will have a vocational aspect, so you will get the opportunity to see how relevant this subject is in the world of work. You will also complete Functional Skills Literacy (Level 1).
