Course description

For students who want to work as electricians in the building services sector. It allows students to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment.

To achieve Level 2 in Electrical installations (Buildings and Structures), learners must achieve 49 credits from the mandatory units.

• Unit 201/501 Health and Safety in building services engineering (3)
• Unit 202 Principles of electrical science (10)
• Unit 203 Electrical installations technology (12)
• Unit 204 Installation of wiring systems and enclosures(21)
• Unit 210 Understanding how to communicate with others within building services engineering(3).

Entry requirements

4 GCSE’s grade C or above including Maths and English OR
BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Electrical or equivalent, plus Level 1 English and Maths 
Successful interview with college staff.

Assessment

Online test and practical assignment
Students may also be required to undertake an examination in Essential Skills English and/or Maths.

    • This is our purpose built Construction campus. This campus opened in 2003 and has great workshop facilities and learning areas. You will study at this campus if you enrol on a Construction course or study day release to learn your chosen trade.
