Performing Arts BTEC Extended Certificate (Single) Level 3 at The Abbey School
The Extended Certificate suits learners who have a keen interest in dance/drama/Musical Theatre. The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the performing arts sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in performing arts. All students will be expected to complete an individual audition in the first term of study in a discipline of their choice – acting/dance/combination.
5 A*-C GCSEs to include:
C grade in GCSE Dance or GCSE Drama or an individual audition with Miss Rogers
C grade in GCSE English is desirable.
Units studied may include:
- Unit 1 Investigating Practitioners’ Work – examination based.
- Unit 2 Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance – practical based coursework unit with final performance assessment.
- Unit 3 Group Performance Workshop – practical based examination with final performance assessment and milestone log coursework.
- Unit 28 Variety Performance – practical based coursework unit with final performance assessment where students can perform using a range of disciplines – acting/dance/singing/Musical Theatre/Variety Act.
