Business Administration Apprenticeship at SHL Training Solutions LTD

Course description

Apprenticeships give a mix of on the job and classroom based learning. Learners will help to create a plan which they will work through with their employer and assessor from SHL Training Solutions.

Course content

Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure things run smoothly - 97% of employers say that effective administration is essential to their business, so they do a crucial job.

The term 'administration' covers roles that involve organising people and resources, including, executive assistants, secretaries, administration assistants, data entry clerks and office juniors.

Without them, information would be hard to find, meetings would be missed and businesses would be less productive.

A business and administration apprentice's exact duties will depend upon the employer. It is likely that the apprentice will be working with a team or member of staff to handle various tasks. It may be typing up board meeting documents, putting financial information together in spreadsheets, sending the daily post, or faxing and photocopying confidential documents. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.

Your job role is likely to include:

  • Clerical duties in a business environment
  • Communication in a business environment
  • Designing and producing documents
  • Plan and organising meetings
  • Analysing and reporting data
  • Contribution in running a project
  • Ordering products and services
  • Use of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Assessment

A Business Administration Apprenticeship is made up from 3 core elements:

  • NVQ
  • Functional Skills

The NVQ portfolio is made up of observations from the assessor, key reports from supervisors and direct from the candidate, it records their activities and experiences. The portfolio is assessed to make sure the student is competent. Their work will be assessed at their place of work.

Functional Skills are similar to Math's and English GCSEs however; learning is focused around business administration.
