Intermediate Apprenticeship

Length of the course - 12 months

What you'll be doing

As a customer service assistant or adviser, you would deal with customer enquiries and any complaints. You would often be a customer’s first point of contact with the company you work for.

You could deal with customers face-to-face, or you might help them over the phone or by email. Good ‘people skills’, a friendly approach and excellent communication skills are all needed in this career.

During the Apprenticeship you will cover areas such as:

  • Process information about customers
  • Make customer service personal
  • Deliver reliable customer service
  • Resolve customer service problems
  • Develop customer relationships

Who is it for?

You do not always need academic qualifications to start training working in Customer Service. However, some employers may prefer you to have a good standard of general Education such as GCSEs, including English and maths.

Typical qualities employers look for include:

  • Good telephone manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work as part of a team or on your own
  • Positive approach to work
  • Willingness to help others

Course content

  • NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Customer Service

Entry requirements

No specific qualifications are required to start this Apprenticeship, although employers usually look for good Maths and English.

You must also be employed in a business environment carrying out administration tasks for at least 30 hours per week.

Fully funded

Aged 19-23
Fully funded for employers with less than 1000 employees. For employers with 1000+ employees, please contact us for further details.

Aged 24 and over
Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 24 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship.
