Entry requirements

To take this pathway you will need to have achieved five GCSEs at grade C and above including English and mathematics. It would be advantageous if as part of your 5 GCSEs you have a grade B or above in an art/media related subject.

The course uses practical activities to assess student coursework, including peer review, self assessment, presentations and exhibitions. Assessment is continuous and is carried out in response to work you produce in taught sessions and in private study – this way you receive constant feedback on how well you are doing and what you need to target next.

As well as this, there are designated assessment points throughout the year when units of study are assessed against the Level 3 Diploma grading criteria. Each unit is graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Although the majority of assessment is portfolio based there will be a small element of formal, external assessment.
