Course description

The department teaches the Edexcel BTEC Subsidiary Diploma which is broadly equivalent to 1 A Level.

The course covers many different genres of dance which will provide you with the valuable skills needed in order to achieve a career within the Dance sector as a performer and/or choreographer. Course content Unit 7 – Performing to an Audience – Taught throughout Year 12 and 13 Year 12

Unit 38 – Dance Performance

Unit 46 – Applying Contemporary Dance Techniques

Unit 47 – Jazz dance Year 13

Unit 39 – Choreographic principles

Unit 52 – Urban Dance

Entry requirements

To be able to study this course you will need, in addition to the general entry requirements, a strong background in dance in any genre. Also grade C or equivalent in GCSE Dance or BTEC Level 2 Dance would be an advantage.
