BTEC NATIONALS IN IT at Royds School

Course description

IT is at the heart of everyday life, at work, home and in our leisure time: from computer graphics and control systems, to communications and problem solving.  IT has an ever increasing role to play.  The BTEC Nationals in IT are an introduction to the study of creating IT systems to manage and share information. 

It is an ideal foundation for students entering the workplace, and will provide you with a theoretical background reinforced with practical skills that are transferable into the modern workplace.

 

Course content

Unit 01 - Information Technology Systems

Unit 02 - Creating Systems to Manage Information

Unit  03 - Using Social Media in Business

Optional Units:

Unit 05 - Data Modelling

Unit 06 - Website Development

 

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above.  (ICT at 5/M and 4 in English and Maths).  If you have not studied IT please speak to Ms Crossley about studying this course.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed by a mixture of external examinations and coursework.  Assessment of all units can take place at relevant times during the two year course.
