Public Services BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate at Grantham College

Course description

The BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Public Services is academically based and designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in current and future employment. Physical fitness is an important aspect of the course, although not a pre - requisite for entry.

Course content

The Extended Certificate course studies 3 units. Subjects studied include:

  • Attending emergency incidents
  • Expedition Skills
  • Law and its impact
  • Public Service Skills
  • Uniformed Public Services Employment
  • Uniformed Public Service Fitness.

Additional subjects include:

  • Orienteering
  • Team Sports
  • Teamwork and Leadership Skills.

You may be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you will have developed new skills, personal attitudes and physical fitness levels that will enhance your chances of employment with the uniformed service of your choice. Alternatively students can progress to the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma or the BTEC Diploma/ Extended Diploma in Public Services.
