Further Mathematics A level at Woodford County High School
The topics studied for the Further Maths modules will include:
FP1 - Complex numbers; numerical solution of equations; coordinate systems; matrix algebra; series; proof.
M1 – modelling; kinematics, dynamics and statics of a particle; vectors; moments.
M2 - Kinematics of a particle; centres of mass; work and energy; collisions; statics of a rigid body.
FP2 - Inequalities; series; further complex numbers; first and second order differential equations; Maclaurin and Taylor series; polar coordinates.
FP3 - Hyperbolic functions; further coordinate systems; differentiation; integration; vectors; further matrix algebra.
Grade A/A* GCSE in Maths.
Each component is assessed by a written examination lasting 1. hours and all units carry equal weighting.
Year 12: FP1, M1 and M2 will be assessed in Summer 2017.
Year 13: The three other modules will be taken at the summer examination session in 2018.
Further mathematicians take a total of twelve modules including the six modules required for Advanced Level Mathematics.
