Childcare- Level 2 Award in Child Development and Care (for students aged 14-16) at Wakefield College
This qualification provides the opportunity to gain a vocational qualification that gives a basic introduction to the childcare sector. It includes the knowledge and understanding of child development and wellbeing necessary for working with children in a variety of settings. It is aimed at a range of learners who wish to be introduced to childcare and development for children aged 0 – 5 years. It also gives learners an insight into their preferred learning styles and assists in developing their ability to study.

How you will learn
You will learn through formal class work, group and individual activities and where applicable, visits to various childcare settings.
Predicted GCSE grades 3-9 in 4 subjects
Minimum Entry Level 3 in English and Maths or equivalent
A genuine interest in the subject/profession
A good reference from Head of Year 9 or Headteacher
Learners will be assessed through two internally graded Assessment Tasks and one externally graded multiple-choice paper.
