Performance Studies at All Saints RC Comprehensive School
After participating in three workshops in each of the three art forms: drama, dance and music, students will create a community performance on a topic that is relevant to their local area and includes all three art forms. These are then performed at a community venue. In the past students have covered topics such as Robin Hood which they have performed in Sherwood Forest and the ghosts of Rufford performed at Rufford Abbey. Students have to produce an essay outlining the performance process and how they have used the information and the artists studied within the workshops to create their performance. Students also have to study the work of two practitioners - usually Matthew Bourne and John Godber and answer questions in a written examination.
In Year 2 students have to create a portfolio of work from a commission given by the exam board (OCR). This will include some devised work and some performance of existing works. Students will also sit a written examination centred around the American musical.
Students will need a minimum of 5 A*-C GCSE grades including English and a B in drama.
