Psychology at Longcroft School
Psychology is the science of behaviour and experience. Studying behaviour involves focusing on what people and other animals actually do. Behaviour includes thinking, remembering and forgetting, growing up, being kind or aggressive, obeying or disobeying orders and being a parent. In studying experience, psychologists are interested in what it is like to be the person exhibiting the behaviour: how it feels to be them and why they behave like they do.
You will sit two AS units in Year 12 which will lead to an AS qualification at the end of the year. For students who wish to continue into Year 13, the AS will form 50% of the total assessment.
Students will have 5 GCSE passes at A*-C including English and Mathematics. It is not necessary to have studied Psychology at GCSE level.
