Course description

AS Unit 1 covers:

The study of an anthology of thematically linked spoken and written texts which offers candidates the opportunity to consider the three literary genres and a range of non-fiction texts exam: 1 hour and 45 minutes Weighting: 30% of total a level

Unit 2 covers:

The development of reading and writing skills through the in-depth study of one pair of texts from a prescribed list Coursework Weighting: 20% of total a level

A2 Unit 3 covers:

The study of a drama text The exploration of talk in real life and talk in literature exam: 2 hours Weighting: 30% of total a level

Unit 4 covers:

The selection of two literary works from a prescribed list of authors and their transformation into different genres

Entry requirements

A grade B in GCSE Language and a grade C in GCSE Literature.
