Sports and Outdoor Activities Level 3 BTEC at Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig

Course description

- The course is suitable for students who are interested in sports and the principles of sport.
- Since it is a vocational course, students learn through practical experiences, and the course expands students’ knowledge and confidence in the area of sport with an emphasis on outdoor activities.
- Practical sessions will be held at The Urdd centre in Glanllyn where there will be an opportunity to practice water based sport skills e.g kayaking, and land based sports e.g. orienteering.
- This is a two year course comprising of six modules and is equivalent to one ‘A’ Level. Modules are optional from those available from the National Diploma and it is also possible for students to study 3 modules in order to gain the accreditation of BTEC Certificate in Sports and Outdoor Activities, which is equivalent to one AS level.

Future opportunities

It is possible to continue to study the area of sport through specific learning pathways at further and higher education. It is possible to study sport courses at college or at university
