Further Mathematics at The Long Eaton School

Course description

KEY FEATURES OF THE COURSE:

  • Linear Assessment
  • Studies of Pure Core Mathematics as well as a choice of 2 of Discrete, Mechanics and Statistics
  • Students will sit 2 exams at the end of Year 12 that will make up an AS Level.
  • If students continue into Year 13, they will sit 3 exams at the end of the year and this will make up the full A Level (there is no contribution from the AS Exams)

Assessment

TYPE OF ASSESSMENT IN YEAR 12 (all exams in June)

  • Paper 1 – 1 ½ hours – 100% of the paper will be Pure Maths
  • Paper 2 – 1 ½ hours – Choose 2 equally weighted papers from Discrete, Mechanics and Statistics

TYPE OF ASSESSMENT IN YEAR 13 (all exams in June)

  • Paper 1 – 2 hours – 100% of the paper will be Pure Maths
  • Paper 2 – 2 hours – 100% of the paper will be Pure Maths
  • Paper 3 – 2 hours – Choose 2 equally weighted papers from Decision, Mechanics and Statistics
