Public Services BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at City of Westminster College
Modules may include:
- Public Service Skills
- Employment in the Uniformed Services
- Improving health and fitness for entry to the uniformed public services
- Sport and recreation in the public services
- Crime and it's effects on society
- Career planning for the public services
- Citizenship, the individual and society
The course also includes trips and visits, examples of which include an Army training camp and a Fire brigade training venue.
You need to have an interest in the uniformed public services and a willingness to take part in both practical and theory based activities. Learners should have at least 4 grade Cs at GCSE, usually including English, or Level 2 Functional Skills in Literacy, OR a Level 2 Diploma in a related subject at a merit or distinction grade. Maths GCSE at a grade D or above would be beneficial. You will also need to bring a reference from a teacher or employer. You may be required to have a CRB check in relation to work experience within the sector.
The course is assessed through a variety of assignments and projects. These include written and practical work, sports and fitness tasks and presentations, amongst other things.
