French A Level at Abbeyfield School

Course description

To communicate confidently in French through both the spoken and written words.
To develop positive attitudes to foreign language learning.
To give a suitable foundation for further study.

To learn about France, French culture and society.

Course content

All about different aspects of French culture including health, the environment, food, politics, transport and education. How to become a confident speaker and improve the quality of your language by using more sophisticated structures.

Entry requirements

Students will need to have at least a B grade at French GCSE. Must enjoy learning languages.

Assessment

2 examined modules per year in both AS and A2

Future opportunities

To continue with French at university by choosing a combined course which includes a language. To enable you to spend some time studying in France or in a French speaking country. To access some of the best jobs, as being able to offer a language is a great asset. Business Managers are more likely to hire someone with good language skills and pay them more. The ability to speak another language can earn you £145,000 more on average in a lifetime
