Travel and Tourism Level 2 BTEC Diploma at Accrington and Rossendale College

Course description

The Level 2 Tourism and Overseas Studies is a combination of the brand new BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, and the NCFE Level 2 Award for Resort Representatives.
This is a one year full-time programme which will provide you with a broad background of the Travel and Tourism Industry, and the vocational skills required. During this course, you will develop a range of skills and knowledge of the Travel and Tourism Industry through structured learning and practical activities. As well as classroom learning, you will also go on a variety of trips which in the past have included Manchester and Liverpool Airports, Alton Towers, Chester Zoo, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, York, The Holiday and Travel Show exhibition and many more.

The NCFE Level 2 Award for Resort Representatives provides the skills, knowledge and understanding required to carry out the role of a Resort Representative. The qualification has been endorsed by Thomas Cook, and students who pass the qualification, pass the pre-screening tests, and meet the essential requirements will be automatically invited for an interview.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grades D and above (including English and Maths).

Financial information

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds.

This course will cost a maximum of £480 for learners aged 19 years old or above. This fee may be reduced or void depending on the individual’s circumstances.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course at Merit level or above, with at least a GCSE in English Language and Mathematics at grade C or Adult Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2 allows you to progress to the Level 3 Tourism, Airline and Events Studies Course, or an equivalent BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.

Alternatively it provides a good foundation for working for tour operators, in travel agencies, call centres, customer services, and for airlines and airports.
