Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Specialist Support in Schools at Henley College Coventry

Course description

You will cover a range of units designed to improve your underpinning knowledge and practical ability to support teaching and learning in schools.

You will study :

  • Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
  • Understanding how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people
  • Supporting assessment and learning
  • Supporting learning activities

You will also work towards a Functional Skills qualification in English, Maths and IT skills. Additionally you will achieve a qualification in understanding employers rights and responsibilities.

Employment opportunities exist within primary, special and secondary schools in both the state and independent sectors. Opportunities also exist to move into other roles across the wider children’s workforce eg, child care, play work or youth work.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C in English, Maths and any other two subjects (or equivalent) or a
Screener to achieve a minimum of Level 2 in Literacy, Numeracy and ICTA clear DBS to be obtained through the setting
Experience of working with children and young people in an appropriate setting
