Further Mathematics AS & A level at Stowupland High School
This is for the type of student who enjoys doing Maths but who also likes to read around the subject. It has very high credibility with universities. For those interested in doing Mathematics, Physics and Engineering at degree level, this course will provide the basis of some of the work covered in the first year at university.
Further Maths takes the maths that you have been learning at GCSE and will learn at A level and extends and hones these skills. Half of the course is algebra based and you have to complete Further Maths 1, 2 and 3 to be awarded an A2 grade. The other 3 units are currently S1, D2 and M2, but these can be amended to suit the needs/interests of the students taking the course.
This subject is done in addition to A level Maths, but provides you with a full A level grade. You will need at least an A at GCSE level if you intend to complete the A level.
