Technical Engineering Level 3 Diploma at Furness College

Course description

This course is ideally suited to those students who wish to develop both practical skills and technical knowledge and wish to progress to a higher level in engineering.

Course content

The course will cover both mechanical and electrical elements allowing students to develop a higher level of skills in these areas. Subjects will include: maths, health and
safety, communication for engineers, mechanical principles, electrical principles, engineering drawing and an extended project.

Every full-time course will include a real experience of work.

Maths and English form part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grades A-C (including maths and science) or a Level 2 Engineering Foundation Programme.


You will be required to complete training tasks, practical competence tests, a portfolio of work, internal & external exams. These tasks will be internally set and marked with external moderation.

Financial information

You will need boots, overalls, and stationery equipment.

Future opportunities

Progression to a degree in Engineering either at Furness College
or university. Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interview.
