Business Studies - BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at John Port School

Course description

This is a vocational qualification which allows students to demonstrate their learning through the completion of assignments for 18 units. Lessons will include a range of activities designed to give students an insight into the latest developments within the world of business. Students will be expected to develop essential business skills such as problem solving, communication skills and team working.

  • Business Resources
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Business communications

Other units include:

  • Understanding retailing
  • Website design
  • Financial accounting
  • Managing a business event

The general entry requirement for the Sixth Form applies.

What can I do after this course?

This course provides an ideal basis for further study at university. Alternatively Business Studies will provide an excellent introduction to work based learning such as an apprenticeship.

What careers would this course be useful for?

Most careers require business knowledge but management, accounts and marketing are the usual careers pursued by business studies students. As well as these, events organising, recruitment and IT are areas that previous students have pursued.
