Course description

The units in this course form a foundation for entering the workplace or further study by providing students with a theoretical background reinforced with practical skills that transfer to the modern workplace. This course will offer learners the opportunity to develop transferable skills that are essential in the workplace or for further study. The qualification is designed to support employability and progression.

Course content

This full time course is taught over 3 days per week for one year. Topics covered include: , Communicating and Working in the IT Industry , Installing computer hardware and software , Website development , Computer Graphics ,Multimedia and Presenting information using IT. Units are taught in class with a mixture of written and practical activities and assessment is via assignments and portfolios. Work experience will be included as part of this course. Functional Skills in Maths and English will be taught as a mandatory part of this course.

Future opportunities

The course will help you achieve the Cambridge Technical Diploma in IT alongside qualifications in English and Maths. It will help to develop skills and employment opportunities and the ability to progress onto a Level 3 course.
