Introduction to Health, Social Care and Young People's Settings CACHE Diploma Level 1 at York College

Course description

This course is designed to provide you with an awareness of health, social care, and children’s and young children’s settings. It will help you develop an understanding of the differences between these settings.

Units include:
 

  • Roles in Health and Social Care, the Early Years and Childcare
  • Principles and Values
  • Safeguarding
  • Working with Children
  • Healthy Eating
  • Child Development

Also included are visits, guest speakers, career preparation events and a compulsory work placement.

Maths/English GCSE retakes are required if not already achieved at grade C (grade 5), or the study of Level 2 Maths and English Functional Skills courses.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade E/F including Maths and English Language (grade 2+/1+) are desirable.

Assessment

All units are assessed through a portfolio of evidence, which must be completed in order to pass the course.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the main qualification as well as the appropriate qualifications in English and Maths, you can progress to a Level 2 course in Health and Social Care, Child Studies or Public Services
