NCFE Cache Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care & Children's and Young People's Settings at Selby College

Course description

This course will provide you with the skills necessary for gaining knowledge and experience in working in health and childcare settings and gives you the opportunity to develop:

 • Work-related Skills

 • Working with Others

 • Personal and Social Skills

 • Communication Skills

Course content

 You will study a number of areas, including:

 • Principles and Values

 • Health and Safety

 • Learning Disability

 • Sensory Loss

 • Mental Health

 You will also be expected to attend a work placement for which you must be prepared to travel. Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.

Standard Level 1 entry requirements apply.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on your suitability to work with children which you will be required to pay for, currently £44.00.*

Future opportunities

On successful completion, you will be able to continue your studies on the Level 2 Certificate in ‘An Introduction to Early Years Education & Care’ or the BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Health & Social Care. However, you may also be able to gain employment in the private or voluntary sectors or an Apprenticeship.

In order to progress, you must have good attendance and achieve the necessary entry requirements for the higher level course.
