AAT Certificate in Accounting - Level 2 at South Thames College

Course description

This course is an introduction to accounting methods and principles, giving you the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to a career in accounting. You'll get to develop your skills in financial administration, double entry-bookkeeping, basic costing principles and purchases, sales and general ledgers.

Course content

Mandatory units:

  • Processing bookkeeping transaction
  • Control accounts journals and the banking system
  • Basic costing
  • Work effectively in accounting
  • Computerised accounts.

Entry requirements

You must be 19 or above at the start of the course and interested in working in an accounting role. You'll be required to pass an interview, entry test in maths and English.


You'll be assessed throughout the year by online computer based tests. These are marked by the AAT automatically, so you'll see your provisional result immediately.

You can progress to the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting to boost your career potential and gain the entry requirements for university.
