TV and Film Level 2 at Gateshead College

Course description

If you're planning a career in the media industries, we'll give you a solid grounding in a range of production techniques for visual and audio media using up to date techniques and systems.

The programme includes some contact with some of our key industry partners and contacts, and you'll be encouraged to take up work experience and networking opportunities as and when they're available.

Course content

You'll find out how to:

  • develop ideas
  • work as part of a team
  • conduct effective research
  • plan projects and meet deadlines.

You'll also develop your communication and presentation skills, find out how the media industries work and work on maximising your chances of securing a job or progressing to further education or training.

Entry requirements

This course is Level 2 - you should have appropriate vocational qualifications at Level 1 or some GCSEs at grade D or above, preferably including English and maths.


Continuous assessment using class based assignments and portfolio of evidence.

Future opportunities

Fast-track to an apprenticeship

If you can’t find the right apprenticeship vacancy or you want to do some studying first - no problem. You can start on a vocational study programme then once you’re ready and a vacancy becomes available, we’ll help you transfer on to an apprenticeship.

    • Gateshead College's Baltic Campus is located on the Gateshead quayside, just minutes from Newcastle City Centre and its attractions.

      The College is situated behind the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and The Sage Gateshead.

      The College has its own car park, but at busy times alternative parking is available nearby.

      There is a charge for parking. Students can apply for a permit to allow free parking during study time.
