Graphic Design(Communication) at Cardinal Newman Catholic School

Course description

On this new and interesting course you will work to themes or design briefs for books, magazines, posters, and DVD/CD covers, demonstrating an understanding of both commercial and practical requirements. Areas of focus can also include computer graphics, multimedia, animation and web design. You will explore typography and its relationship to images and gain an understanding of how graphic design can sell a product or service.

Your ideas and designs will be developed using a combination of traditional and modern methods using everything from a pen or pencil to sophisticated software packages such as ‘Photoshop’. An inventive, independent and involved approach to the course is encouraged. This course is highly regarded by universities as an excellent foundation for degree study in any design field. It is particularly useful if you intend to study graphic design, advertising, illustration, multimedia, animation or complete an Art Foundation.

Entry requirements

The equivalent of atleast five GCSEs at grade C or above
