Creative Digital Media Production Level 2 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

The world of media is fast paced, exciting and continually evolving. This course gives you the essential skills you need to work in careers across creative specialisms such as film producer/director, camera operator and sound engineer.

With us at your side you’ll be encouraged to express your creativity through different production techniques. The emphasis is on practical, hands-on experience but you’ll also develop communication skills and a sound academic appreciation of the field.

Course content

Key subject areas include:

  • Moving image and audio production

  • Advertising techniques

  • Exploring media audiences

  • Media structure and creation

  • Media ownership

  • Deconstructing media production: TV, films and games

Live briefs will focus your thoughts and project time, whether you’re working in teams or alone to plan and produce audio-visual media. In addition, you’ll develop your English and maths skills and complete GAP work placements. These are essential skills and experiences, whether you have further study or starting work in mind after College.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs (A*-D) including English or completion of a Level 1 programme, you will also be required to attend a course introduction meeting.

Future opportunities

Your study options include Level 3 Extended diploma courses in: TV & Film,Photography, Media Production, Digital Art and Print-based Media. Possible careers include junior positions in film or TV industry, photography, sound creation or the advertising industry.
