Photography Level 3 BTEC 90 Credit Diploma at Mid Cheshire College

Course description

On this course there is a strong emphasis on developing photographic skill using a range of camera types and lighting techniques, along with new digital technologies appropriate to photography.

During the first year this course will cover a range of photographic subject areas including Studio Still Life, Portraiture, Advertising, Editorial, Newspaper and Technical Photography. In the second year of study there is an opportunity to specialise in a specific field of photography.
You will also study design history, photographic theory, computer graphics and business studies.

Course content

This course is part of a study programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment.

The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.

The key theme of study programmes at level 3 will be the development of personal, social and enterprise skills to enable progression to higher levels of study or employment. All learners will undertake a work placement as well as projects that help to develop employability skills.

As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills in English or Maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.

Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade A* - C or equivalent (including GCSE English). You will also need to present a satisfactory portfolio of photographic or creative work.

Future opportunities

Successful students can progress onto the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Photography
