Welsh AS/A Level at Ysgol Emrys Ap Iwan
This course involves a detailed study of the Welsh Language, its structure and use. Students examine different types of writing in Welsh whilst developing their use of the language. The course is designed to encourage students to communicate confidently in a variety of contexts and to develop an understanding of the cultural background and heritage of Welsh.
CA1 : Y Ffilm a Llafaredd (Film and Oracy)
CA2 : Gwaith Cwrs Ysgrifenedig (Written coursework)
CA3 : Defnyddio'r Iaith a Barddoniaeth (The use of Language and Poetry)
CA4 : Y Ddrama a Llafaredd (Drama and Oracy)
CA5 : Y Stori Fer a Thrawsieithu (The Short Story and Translanguaging)
CA6 : Defnyddio'r Iaith a Gwerthfawrogi Barddoniaeth (The use of Language and Poetry Appreciation)
Preferably grade A*-C in GCSE full or short course Welsh.
CA1 20% - Oral examination (Group)
CA2 15% - Coursework
CA3 15% - Written Examination
CA4 15% - Oral examination (Group)
CA5 20% - Written Examination
CA6 15% - Written Examination
The Welsh language skills that you develop whilst studying this course will enhance your job prospects and your appreciation of Welsh culture and communities. You will be able to progress into careers within Wales and beyond; including roles in local government, the Welsh Government, the health sector, education and media. It can also lead to the study of Welsh at university.
