Business Administration - Advanced Apprenticeship at Damar Training
Apprenticeships in business and administration are designed for people who work in roles that involve organising, supporting or supervising people and resources.
Jobs that business and administration apprentices either do or are working towards include:
- Administration assistant
- Patient records administrator
- Data entry clerk
- Office Administrator
- Office Manager
Damar's business and administration apprentices work in a wide range of sectors including: law, accountancy, healthcare, financial services, property, media, manufacturing and distribution.
Business and administration can be a stepping stone towards more specialist apprenticeships such as accounts or team leading. The Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable for staff who have some supervisory responsibility in addition to carrying out administrative tasks.
As well as doing their job an apprentice is supported by their employer and Damar to achieve a group of qualifications which, together, comprise the apprenticeship "framework". These are:
A Diploma in Business Administration which has two purposes. First, it will develop the apprentice’s knowledge and understanding of their area of work and the underpinning theories that apply. Second, it will ensure that apprentices are applying their knowledge and understanding at work on a consistent and competent basis.
Students will be tested in a number of ways. More formal tests and written work will demonstrate knowledge and understanding. Competency will be demonstrated across all of the main areas of the student's job via a portfolio of evidence (which can take a variety of forms). The apprentice will work on their portfolio in partnership with their Damar trainer and manager over the duration of the apprenticeship.
Functional skills in English, maths and ICT. Unlike academic exams, these are designed to ensure that students have the skills in maths, English and ICT that they need at work.
The Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable for staff who have some supervisory responsibility in addition to carrying out administrative tasks.
Some prior experience in a business or administration role is desired but not a formal requirement.
